Virginia Education Association (VEA)

The Virginia Education Association (VEA) is SEA’s state affiliate. Every local education association in Virginia is part of VEA, and many of the services and resources our members rely on are coordinated through VEA’s headquarters in Richmond.

VEA provides members with opportunities for professional growth and advocacy through statewide conventions, conferences, leadership training, and other events. Many of these programs are free or offered at a reduced cost for members.

National Education Association (NEA)

The National Education Association (NEA) is the nation’s largest professional organization representing educators. Every VEA member is also a member of NEA, giving SEA members a strong voice in protecting and advancing public education at the national level.

NEA advocates for students, educators, and public schools through research, policy, and legislative efforts in Washington, D.C.

SEA is especially proud that Princess Mosssarah, a Virginia educator and former Louisa County teacher, has been elected President of NEA. She currently serves as NEA Treasurer and will begin her term as NEA President in 2027.
